Alcoholic strength
8. THE ALCOHOLIC STRENGTH - art. 5 (1g) art. 21 and art. 23 WEL
- With respect to beverages containing more than 1,2% by volume of alcohol the symbol "% vol" should be used, preceded by the actual alcoholic strength, determined at a temperature of 20 degrees C.
- The indication should be clearly visible and legible, with one decimal only. The indication may be preceded by the word "alc" or "alcohol".
- Any difference between the declared and the actual alcoholic strenghth should be less than 0,3% (art. 21(2g) WEL).
- For shooters, premixes and other light alcoholic drinks it is urgently advised to state the indication "alcohol". This will probably become legally required in the near future. This is necessary so no misunderstanding can arise about the presence of alcohol in the product.
