
Distilled spirits bottles: because of the environment policy in the spirits industry it is strongly advised to put the bottle bank logo (see model below) on every spirit bottle for sales in the Netherlands. Importers are advised to insist with foreign producers to use this logo as well. This is a recommendation, not an obligation. Cartons: cartons used as cases for distilled spirits should preferably carry a recycling symbol as shown below.
Stone jars: should preferably carry an indication that they should not be put in the bottle bank.
The green point, which is used in some other countries of the EU is not prohibited in the Netherlands, but it is meaningless here. The green point on the bottle means that in the concerning country the producer financially supports the recycling system. The Netherlands have their own (cheaper) recycling system in which the green point is not used.
