Compulsary labelling of the net quantity (art. 5 (1b) WEL) means that the quantity of a liquid product should be determined at a temperature of 20 degrees C, indicated by figures and followed by the name or symbol of the unity involved: l, cl or ml (art.11 WEL), possibly followed by the so-called e-mark (see also under 11).
When a prepackaged item consists of two or more individual packages (bottles), each of which having the same quantity and regarded as a unit of sale to the ultimate consumer, the indication of the total number of all individual packages with their net-quantity (and eventually the e-mark) is required. For example on a case: 12 bottles with 0,70 l. liqueur. (art. 12 (1a) WEL)
The size of figures and typesetting is described in art. 23 WEL, which says that all indications should be clearly visible and indelible, easily legible and easy to understand for the consumer.
When the system of so-called e-prepackagings is used (see also under 11) , art. 9 of the "Hoeveelheidsaanduidingenbesluit (Warenwet)" requires a minimal size of 4 mm in the typesetting of the figures for containers between 20 and 100 cl.
